Former Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar has undergone a successful angioplasty at Eternal Hospital in Jaipur. The procedure, which was performed by a team led by Dr. Samin K Sharma, involved the implantation of two stents to treat significant blockages in Dhankhar’s coronary arteries. According to hospital officials, Dhankhar had been experiencing complaints of heaviness in his chest while walking, shortness of breath, and intermittent chest pain over the past few days, prompting him to visit the hospital for a comprehensive cardiac evaluation.

Following a cardiac stress test and coronary angiography, specialists discovered a significant blockage in one of Dhankhar’s coronary arteries, leading to the decision to proceed with angioplasty. Using advanced interventional techniques, Dr. Sharma successfully restored blood flow by implanting two stents in the affected artery. Dhankhar is currently stable and recovering well under the observation of the medical team.

Earlier in the day, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot visited Dhankhar at the hospital to inquire about his well-being. This development comes after Dhankhar resigned as Vice President, stating in his letter to the President dated July 21, 2025, that he was doing so ‘To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice.’ However, in February, he clarified that his resignation wasn’t on account of ill health, but rather a decision to prioritize his health care, stating that he had never neglected his health and was simply taking steps to prioritize it.
