A tragic collision between a state transport bus and a pickup truck in Haridwar’s Shyampur flyover has resulted in the loss of three lives and left four others injured. The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 am on Monday, causing significant traffic disruption in the area. According to preliminary investigations, the bus driver may have dozed off at the wheel, leading to the fatal crash.

The bus, which was en route from Najibabad to Haridwar, collided head-on with the pickup truck, which was traveling from Haridwar to Bijnor. The impact of the collision was severe, with two occupants of the pickup vehicle thrown off the flyover. The pickup truck was carrying around 10 people, although the exact number of passengers in the bus is not yet known.

The injured have been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. A police team quickly responded to the scene, launching a rescue operation and transporting the victims to the hospital. Two of the victims, 18-year-old Ahaan from Badapur in Najibabad and an unidentified 35-year-old man, succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Two other critically injured passengers, Sharafat and his wife Shabana, were referred to AIIMS Rishikesh, where Shabana sadly passed away en route, bringing the total number of fatalities to three. The other injured individuals have been identified as Annu, Soni Lal, and Shamim. The families of the victims have been notified, and the bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.

Authorities have removed both damaged vehicles from the highway using a hydra crane to restore normal traffic flow, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
