Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the ‘Tawi Aarti and Light and Sound Show’ on Amarnath Yatra in Jammu on Wednesday evening. The event was held to welcome pilgrims on the eve of the scheduled flagging off of the first batch from Bhagwati Nagar base camp. The Lt Governor also inaugurated an exhibition on Amarnath Yatra and launched ‘Raahi: Hop Jammu’ Bus Service, an initiative of the Jammu district administration designed to offer locals and tourists a seamless way to explore the city’s cultural and heritage landscape.

Lt Governor Sinha addressed the gathering after the inauguration, saying that the Amarnath Yatra has long been a symbol of unity and faith, bringing together people of diverse languages, cultures, and traditions. He extended his warmest greetings and felicitations to all pilgrims, stating that the Tawi Aarti stands as a vibrant symbol of collective spiritual consciousness, cultural unity, and social harmony. The Lt Governor emphasized that the Tawi Aarti will be offered every evening throughout the Amarnath Yatra, with each lamp lit serving as a beacon of hope, purity, renewal, and faith.

He invited seekers from across the country to participate in this spiritual journey and applauded the efforts of Jammu Smart City Limited for building the Tawi riverfront and ensuring the river’s rightful place at the heart of community life. Lt Governor Sinha also envisioned a Jammu that emerges as a global centre for spiritual tourism, cultural studies, and human values. He expressed his desire to see a Tawi riverfront that sets a model for environmental protection, sustainable development, and modern urban planning, where nature, culture, and contemporary amenities complement one another to create a new model of development.

The Lt Governor concluded by calling for people’s active participation in keeping the city clean and vibrant, and in reclaiming Jammu’s distinguished identity as a centre of spiritual awareness, cultural richness, and learning.
