The Recovering Warriors Oyan, a group of youths from Oyan village in East Siang district who have overcome narcotics and drug consumption, have extended a helping hand to the families affected by the recent flash flood and landslides in Keyi Panyor district. Led by Mohan Tamut, the volunteers organized three donation camps at Oyan, Ruksin, and Pasighat markets, collecting a total of Rs 89,000. This amount was handed over to Ruksin ADC Kiran Ningo on Monday, who will forward it to the Keyi Panyor District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) as flood relief.
The volunteers have appealed to the state’s elite section to contribute and offer relief to the affected families. Oyan Gaon Buri Bobita Bori and public leader Bimol Lego supervised the volunteers during the collection of donations and assisted them in the official process to transfer the collected amount. ADC Ningo has assured that the amount will be credited to the bank account of Keyi Panyor DC and DDMA chairman at the earliest convenience.
The flash floods caused by cloudburst and massive landslides in Keyi Panyor district have resulted in significant damage, claiming lives and leaving several families homeless.
