A 20-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three individuals in a forest in Jharkhand’s Dumka district, according to police reports. The incident occurred on Sunday evening at Futbedia forest. The victim had traveled to Jaipur in West Bengal to sell leaf plates and was returning home when the alleged assault took place.
The woman lodged a complaint at the Tongra Police Station on Monday evening, identifying two of the accused as residents of Kudalmetia village, which borders Jharkhand and West Bengal. However, the third person involved in the alleged gang-rape remains unidentified. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident and have sent the victim for medical examination.
Her statement was recorded before a magistrate on Tuesday. The authorities have assured that the accused will be arrested soon. The police are currently investigating all aspects of the case.
