Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong emphasized the importance of quality education and adequate residential infrastructure in empowering tribal students to become responsible citizens and future leaders. He made this statement while inaugurating a newly constructed boys’ hostel at Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Khela, Tirap district. Wanglin Lowangdong said that quality education, supported by adequate residential infrastructure, is essential for empowering tribal students and preparing them to become responsible citizens and future leaders.

He appealed to the people of Khela village to donate additional land for the school’s future expansion, as several essential infrastructures are yet to be developed. The MLA commended the efforts of the school administration, teachers, and supporting agencies in nurturing young minds in the region. He encouraged students to maintain discipline, work diligently, and make the best use of the opportunities provided under the EMRS system.

The principal of the school highlighted the institution’s remarkable progress and achievements, reaffirming its commitment to providing quality education and ensuring holistic development of every student. In addition to academic excellence, the school promotes co-curricular activities such as yoga, parade, drawing, cultural programmes, games, and sports to foster discipline, creativity, leadership, and overall personality development among students. The principal also informed participants that EMRS Khela students were given the opportunity to meet the President of India on August 15, 2024, as special invitees representing Arunachal Pradesh in traditional Nocte attire.

The students have consistently excelled in district- and state-level competitions, winning numerous accolades and bringing laurels to both the school and the state. The hostel was funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs under the Scheme for Grant to State Tribal Education Agencies. EMRS Khela is a co-educational residential school managed by the Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti.

The inauguration programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner Techu Aran, ZPMs Tumwang Lowang, Necha Wangsu, Wanglee Rangyang, SP Aditya, PWD EE Taro Jeram, Nocte Women Association chairperson Chasuam Wangchadong, and other senior public leaders, chiefs, GBs, government employees, teachers, students, and parents.
