Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ponguru Narayana announced that the Andhra Pradesh government is working to develop its schools to meet global standards. This initiative aims to provide state-of-the-art facilities in addition to quality education. The Minister made this statement during a visit to Mallela Sanjeevaiah Memorial Municipal High School in AC Nagar, where he was accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Y. O. Nandan and District Educational Officer R. Balaji Rao.
During a review meeting with education department officials and teachers, Mr. Narayana emphasized the State government’s focus on providing better infrastructure alongside quality education in government schools. He highlighted that several government schools in Nellore are being developed to meet corporate standards under the guidance of Education Minister Nara Lokesh. The construction of additional classrooms has been undertaken in response to the significant rise in student enrolment.
The Minister revealed that six classrooms have already been completed, and the construction of another 28 classrooms is progressing rapidly. The school will feature 18 types of specialized educational facilities, including labs for computers and robotics, music rooms, and a library. Additionally, modern buildings with 36 classrooms are being constructed to provide quality education on a single campus, spanning levels from Anganwadi to Grade-10, with the potential to conduct Intermediate classes in the future.
Mr. Narayana stated that the ongoing construction work would be completed by next January or February, making fully equipped schools available to students for the new academic year.
In a separate development, the Minister announced that the State government is prioritizing the comprehensive development of the Udayagiri region, aiming to pave the way for economic growth by establishing industries and creating employment opportunities. He revealed that ₹1,098.79 crore has been allocated for the welfare of Udayagiri over the past two years, and four industries have already received approval, which are expected to provide employment to approximately 4,000 people.
The Minister later inaugurated CC roads constructed at a cost of ₹1.70 crore.
