The 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion National Cadet Corps (1 AP Bn NCC) is conducting its final combined annual training camp (CATC-68) for the training year 2026-27 from 24 June to 3 July at Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic College (RGGPC) in Itanagar. A total of 247 NCC cadets are participating in the camp under the leadership of the 1 AP Battalion NCC commanding officer. The camp is being conducted with the support of 10 military staff, three associate NCC officers (ANOs), and one caretaker officer (CTO), who are overseeing the training and welfare of the cadets.

Brigadier Mayank Vaid, the newly appointed commander of NCC group headquarters, Tezpur, also attended the camp, reflecting his commitment to familiarising himself with the various NCC units under his command and area of responsibility. During his visit, he toured various areas of the campsite, including the firing simulator and the firing range, and interacted with the cadets. The camp primarily seeks to familiarise NCC cadets with the challenges and discipline of camp life, while inculcating the fundamental values of unity, discipline, national integration and esprit de corps.

The training curriculum has been designed to offer cadets a balanced blend of foundational military training and personality development activities. Activities including physical training, field craft and battle craft, small arms firing, musketry, weapons display, sword drill, lectures by distinguished personalities, yoga and games are incorporated into the training module. These activities are intended to build physical stamina, mental toughness, leadership abilities, teamwork, and self-confidence, thereby promoting the holistic development of every cadet.

In addition to the regular training programme, the camp will also feature training under the Yuva Aapda Mitra scheme, aimed at equipping NCC cadets with essential disaster preparedness and emergency response skills. The initiative, launched by the National Disaster Management Authority, seeks to develop volunteers capable of responding effectively during natural disasters and other emergencies. As part of the programme, cadets will undergo structured training in basic disaster response, relief and rescue operations, and emergency management techniques to handle situations such as floods, cloudbursts, and earthquakes.

The training is being imparted by certified instructors from the State Disaster Management Authority, enabling the cadets to acquire practical skills in disaster risk reduction and crisis response. The camp has been planned to reinforce the NCC’s commitment to fostering discipline, leadership, physical fitness, and teamwork among the youths.
