A three-day vocational training programme on scientific poultry farming, conducted by the Papum Pare KVK, concluded on Friday in Itanagar, with over 30 trainees participating in the event. The programme aimed to educate and encourage local farmers to take up poultry farming, reducing dependence on supplies from other states. Dr Bangkeng Perme, Head of KVK, emphasized the importance of venturing into the poultry farming industry and delivered a lecture on poultry feeding and types of feed for poultry. The training programme featured a series of lectures by experts in the field, including Dr Tadung Taku, who spoke on biosecurity in poultry farming and layer poultry management. Dr Nabam Gama, farm manager, discussed the types of poultry, housing, broiler chicken management, and various central and state government poultry schemes, urging the trainees to take advantage of these schemes.
On the final day of the training, the participants visited the central poultry farm in Nirjuli, where they received practical training and demonstrations from assistant veterinarian Nabam Apang.
