A family of five narrowly escaped injury after their car caught fire on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway (NH 48) near Jolarpet town in Tirupattur on Saturday. The incident occurred when the family was returning from the Government Medical College Hospital in Krishnagiri. G. Motilal, a jewellery merchant in Tirupattur, was driving the vehicle with his family when he noticed smoke emanating from the bonnet.
Upon seeing the smoke, Motilal quickly pulled over, allowing his family to alight from the vehicle safely. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the car. Firefighters and police from Natrampalli promptly arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, the car was completely gutted.
The family was taken to the Government Taluk Hospital in Tirupattur for a medical check-up as a precautionary measure. Following the rescue, the police removed the charred remains of the vehicle from the carriageway to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
