The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed in Aalo, West Siang district, with a 5-km awareness run organised by the Aalo Miles Running Club on Thursday. The event aimed to promote a drug-free society through fitness and healthy living. Aalo Miles Running Club, in collaboration with the ICDS Department and the district medical office, brought together enthusiastic youths and fitness enthusiasts from across Aalo. The event was part of the club’s efforts to encourage healthy living through regular physical activity. Founders Yisum Bagra, Mini Ete, and Yasang Chije highlighted the club’s objectives and noted its progress in building a culture of fitness and community participation.
The club has been organising weekly Sunday runs and has now completed its 11th consecutive week. The organisers expressed their gratitude to the ICDS Department and the DMO office for their support. They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting fitness and drug awareness through similar initiatives.
