A team of Naharlagun police conducted a search operation under the supervision of an Executive Magistrate in D-Sector on Tuesday, resulting in the arrest of a drug peddler and the recovery of suspected heroin. The arrested individual, identified as 21-year-old Sonny Taba, is a resident of D-Sector, Naharlagun. Led by Sub-Inspectors K.
Tada and V. Linggi, along with constables Sanu Raj T. and K. Raja, and L/HC J.
Yadap, the operation was successful in seizing 19 vials containing suspected heroin, weighing 20.08 grams, including the weight of the vials. A subsequent search of the accused’s residence yielded an additional seven vials of suspected heroin, weighing 8.41 grams, including the weight of the vials, as well as Rs. 12,900 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug peddling. Naharlagun SP Nyelam Nega confirmed that Case No. 70/2026 has been registered under Sections 21(b), 27, and 29 of the NDPS Act at Naharlagun police station following the seizure.
The police remain committed to building a drug-free society, with the fight against narcotics being a top priority. Strict action will continue against drug traffickers and peddlers, according to SP Nega.
