Nagaland is set to host an Open Recruitment Rally for the Indian Air Force’s Agniveervayu scheme in September 2026, marking the return of an IAF recruitment drive to the state after a decade. The decision was made at a meeting convened by the Special Secretary (Home) on June 10, which was attended by officials from the Home Department and other key departments to discuss preparations for the recruitment exercise. The Special Secretary (Home) expressed appreciation to Wing Commander A.

Muralidharan, Commanding Officer of the Indian Air Force, and his colleague for facilitating the recruitment initiative, stating that the rally would provide a valuable opportunity for the youth of Nagaland to serve in the Indian Air Force. Wing Commander Muralidharan outlined the benefits of the Agniveer scheme and noted that young people from Nagaland and other Northeastern states have not fully benefited from such opportunities due to limited awareness and relatively low participation in previous recruitment drives. He informed the gathering that the upcoming rally would be open to both male and female candidates under the Agniveervayu (Non-Technical) category.

The recruitment rally will be held at the Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre (NAPTC) in Chumoukedima, with the Police Headquarters (PHQ) tasked with appointing a nodal officer to coordinate with IAF authorities and oversee administrative and logistical arrangements. Various departments have been assigned responsibilities to ensure the smooth conduct of the rally, including providing medical support, verifying candidates’ documents, arranging transportation facilities, and undertaking publicity through various media platforms. The Indian Air Force will release the recruitment notification, including eligibility criteria and qualification requirements, at least 45 days before the rally to ensure maximum awareness and participation among aspiring candidates across Nagaland.
