A 35-year-old labourer from Bihar has been arrested by the Bommanahalli police for allegedly murdering a 40-year-old woman from West Bengal in Bengaluru. The accused, Sanjeev Paswan, was known to the victim, Krishna Barman, and frequently visited her residence in Muniyappa Layout, Hongasandra. Barman, who was separated from her husband, lived alone in a rented room and worked as a domestic help and in a garment factory.
Paswan, who worked as a daily wage labourer, was identified as the prime suspect after the crime came to light on June 28. According to the police, Paswan had visited Barman’s house earlier on the day of the incident, but she did not open the door. He returned later, picked a quarrel with her over personal issues, and allegedly gagged her by stuffing a cloth into her mouth before fatally assaulting her on the head with a small LPG cylinder.
The police were alerted by the house owner after neighbours noticed the door partially open and received no response from inside. A team from the Bommanahalli Police Station registered a murder case and launched an investigation, which led to Paswan’s arrest from his hometown in Bihar. The police are continuing their investigation to ascertain the exact reason behind the murder.
