Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing has emphasized the importance of a collaborative and flexible approach in implementing rural governance reforms effectively. Addressing a national workshop of state panchayati raj ministers, Tasing stressed that flexibility in the implementation framework is crucial in adapting to local governance challenges, particularly in geographically distinct regions. The workshop, chaired by Union Minister of Panchayati Raj Lalan Singh, brought together ministers from various states to discuss the operational guidelines for executing the 16th Finance Commission’s Rural Local Body Grants. A key focus area was the need to enhance the financial sustainability of panchayati raj institutions by strengthening their own source revenue mobilization capabilities. The participants agreed that robust Centre-state collaboration is essential in creating an implementation framework that empowers local bodies.
Senior officials and ministers concurred that empowered panchayats are vital for delivering responsive governance, resilient infrastructure, and efficient public services. The workshop concluded with a shared commitment to advancing participatory governance and aligning local institutional growth with the national vision of achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047. The ultimate goal is to ensure that every village contributes to the nation’s socioeconomic progress.
