Minister for Housing and Urban Development B. Rajkumar inspected the progress of various development works and water projects underway in Cuddalore Corporation on Saturday. He was accompanied by Cuddalore Member of Parliament M.

The officials inspected various works undertaken under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, including the laying of pipelines to provide protected drinking water to households in 18 wards in Manjakuppam. The Minister also reviewed the construction of an overhead water storage tank with 12 million litre capacity at Sorakalpattu, which is being built at an outlay of ₹28.67 crore.

The Minister also inspected the ongoing construction of the Anna Market in Cuddalore, which is being built at an estimated cost of ₹5.03 crore and will include 120 shops. Additionally, he reviewed the construction of a two-storey aquarium with internal temperature control systems. Mr. Rajkumar also inspected the construction of a sewage treatment plant at Devanampattinam, which is estimated to cost ₹43.45 crore, and an Animal Birth Control (ABC) centre at Pachaiyankuppam. He directed the officials to expedite the works, ensure quality, and complete the works within the stipulated timeframe.

The Minister also emphasized the need to restore roads damaged due to the laying of drinking water pipelines immediately.
