A man has been arrested in Bihar’s Saharsa district for allegedly influencing police investigations, while 10 police officers have been suspended for their suspected complicity in the matter. The action was taken after a video showing an individual interfering in police investigations went viral on social media. Satish Kumar, a resident of Bahuwarwa village, was arrested for acting as a middleman at Salkhua police station and influencing police investigations. Koshi Range DIG Kumar Ashish stated that the police action is in accordance with the instructions of the DGP. The arrested individual was found to be in possession of a laptop, keyboard, mouse, and original case files belonging to several investigating officers.
It was discovered that Kumar had been moving around police stations and taking money from the public. Several case files were found on Kumar’s laptop, and he was apparently involved in writing police diaries and forwarding them to others. A case has been registered against him at Salkhua police station under various sections of the law.
The 10 investigating officers whose files were found with the accused and who were found to be complicit have been suspended with immediate effect and sent to the police lines. Departmental proceedings would also be initiated against them, and the police would ensure the strictest possible punishment against those found guilty. The role of other people linked to the case is also being investigated, and action would be taken promptly against anyone else found involved.
