A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbings of two men at a Florida apartment complex, with the suspect claiming he was driven to commit the crimes by ‘evil voices.’ Gregory DaSilva was taken into custody on Tuesday, hours after the bodies of Mesilien Pierre, 36, and Wilford White, 68, were discovered at the complex in Lauderhill. According to authorities, DaSilva’s arrest was prompted by a third man approaching an officer in the area, claiming someone had attempted to stab him. A subsequent search of the area led police to the discovery of the two victims, with surveillance footage appearing to show DaSilva walking behind one of the men, who was in a wheelchair, before entering an apartment.
The footage also captured the suspect approaching the second victim, Mesilien Pierre, who was sitting on an electrical box, and making a stabbing motion towards him with an unknown object. DaSilva was found in the yard of a nearby home, where he allegedly told an officer, ‘It was me.’ A search of his backpack revealed a knife and bloodied clothing, and when taken to a local hospital, DaSilva told a doctor that he was ‘hearing evil voices to murder someone.’ The motive behind the killings is currently unclear, with authorities stating that it is unknown whether DaSilva had a relationship with the victims. DaSilva faces two counts of premeditated murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident has left the community in shock, with one of White’s neighbors describing him as a ‘really good guy’ who always checked in on them.
