The Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre, in collaboration with the New Delhi-based Centre for Scientific Outreach, recently hosted an aviation outreach programme in Itanagar. The event aimed to familiarise students with emerging developments in aviation, aerospace, and drone technology, while encouraging them to explore future career opportunities. Approximately 100 attendees, including students from various schools, NCC cadets, and internship trainees, participated in the programme. Dr Tage Taki, Chairman of the AP State Council for Science & Technology, urged students to maximise their use of available scientific infrastructure and develop a solution-oriented mindset to address real-world challenges. He highlighted the transformative potential of unmanned aerial vehicles in revolutionising the transportation of life-saving medicines and essential supplies to remote areas of the state. AP Science Centre curator Vivek Kumar emphasised the importance of extending scientific outreach beyond classrooms to the grassroots level, particularly in a geographically challenging state like Arunachal Pradesh. The programme featured a blend of theoretical insights and hands-on learning, led by industry experts.
National Aviation Olympiad national coordinator Vaibhav Varun conducted a session on emerging technologies in India, covering topics such as drone regulations, certification pathways, and career opportunities. A live demonstration was also conducted, introducing participants to UAV fundamentals, DGCA Drone Rules, 2021, and safety protocols. The comprehensive outreach programme provided participants with vital insights into contemporary aviation developments, bridging the gap between theoretical science and practical, modern-day technological applications.
