Laki Weshi Sangno, also known by his professional cage name Wayshi Sangno, has made history by becoming the first fighter from Arunachal Pradesh to win a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) bout in Indonesia. Sangno, who hails from East Kameng district, achieved this milestone by defeating Indonesia’s Namr Arad in the strawweight division at Canggu Fight Night 39. Fighting for India, Sangno dominated the bout from the start, showcasing his skills and strength. He successfully picked up Arad, slammed him to the canvas, and followed up with ground-and-pound strikes, leaving the Indonesian with little chance to recover.

Arad attempted to fight back with two guillotine choke attempts from the bottom, but Sangno escaped both without much trouble. As the fight progressed, Sangno continued to land punches from the top position, further weakening his opponent. With about 30 seconds remaining in the opening round, the referee stopped the fight to save Arad from further punishment and declared Sangno the winner by technical knockout (TKO).

This victory marks a significant milestone for Arunachal’s MMA community, as Sangno became the first Arunachali to register a professional MMA victory in Indonesia. Sangno’s achievement is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport. He is the son of Nani Weshi Sangno and late Darmang Weshi Sangno of Weshi village in Pakoti circle of East Kameng district.
