An exhibition football match was held in Shamator district as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), with the active participation of various Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). The event aimed to promote awareness against substance abuse and encourage healthy community engagement. The programme was led by EAC, Shamator Sangtsui, while Deputy Commissioner of Shamator and Chairman of NCORD Shamator Arikumba, NCS attended as the special guest. Arikumba appreciated the active involvement of CSOs in supporting the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and urged all stakeholders to continue working collectively to strengthen awareness initiatives and promote a drug-free environment across the district.
SDO (Civil), Shamator Athrong, NCS, underscored the importance of community participation in the fight against substance abuse, highlighting the role of sports and constructive activities in fostering a healthy, disciplined and drug-free society. The exhibition match served as a platform to reinforce community engagement while spreading the message of a healthy and substance-free society. A football match was played between the team comprising Village Council Chairmen (GBs) and Ward Leaders and a combined team of the Shamator Town Students’ Union and Shamator Town Public Forum, with the GBs and Ward Leaders emerging victorious with a 3–1 win.
