The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has described the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple as ‘unfortunate’ and urged the Hindu community to exercise patience and restraint during this difficult time. RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale stated that the incident has wounded the sentiments and reverence of the entire society and Ram devotees, and that the organization is hurt by this event. The alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple came to light on June 7, and an FIR was registered on June 25 based on a preliminary report submitted by the SIT constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government.
Eight persons associated with the temple’s donation-counting process have been arrested so far, and the investigation is continuing. Hosabale emphasized the need for strict punishment for those found guilty in the investigation. He also highlighted the stance of the RSS, stating that this highly condemnable incident should be treated as exceptional and that effective steps be taken with utmost seriousness to address all deficiencies in the arrangements and operations.
The RSS expects the temple management and the special investigation team to take necessary initiatives to restore public confidence through proper financial management, flawless and transparent operational systems, and an atmosphere imbued with purity, sanctity, and true religiosity. Hosabale urged the entire Hindu society to demonstrate necessary patience and restraint in this difficult moment and to foil the conspiracies of anti-Hindu, anti-national forces who seek to exploit this unfortunate incident to malign Hindu dharma and society. The RSS statement marks the organization’s first formal intervention in the controversy that has engulfed the temple administration.
The Sangh has expressed confidence that the Trust will restore public confidence and has called for restraint, urging Hindu society not to allow anti-Hindu and anti-national forces to exploit the controversy to defame Hindu society and the faith.
