Environment & Forest Minister Wangki Lowang recently conducted a thorough inspection of the roads and bridges damaged by the recent flash floods in Deomali subdivision of Tirap district. Accompanied by Deomali Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) B Tawsik, the minister assessed the extent of the destruction caused by the unprecedented floods. The floods have severely damaged road infrastructure, bridges, and communication links in several villages and localities, significantly disrupting transportation and affecting the daily lives of the people. During the inspection, Lowang interacted with officials concerned regarding the restoration of essential infrastructure and expressed concern over the losses incurred.
He stated that restoring connectivity and ensuring smooth delivery of public services would be the government’s immediate priority. The minister directed the departments concerned to prepare and implement urgent restoration measures at the earliest, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts among all line departments to expedite repair works and restore normalcy in the affected areas. Lowang reassured the public of the government’s commitment to their welfare, assuring that all possible assistance would be extended to mitigate the hardships faced by the affected communities and to strengthen infrastructure against future natural calamities.
The district administration and the departments concerned have already initiated preliminary assessment and are working towards early restoration of damaged roads, bridges, and other essential public infrastructure.
